Aboriginal Education

The Aboriginal Education Team here at Hampstead Primary school is made up of Angela Giles (ACEO), Carly Price (AET) and Joy Keddie (Principal). We are dedicated and passionate about making sure our students and their families receive support to assist their learning at school.

My name is Angela Giles, I am a Ngarrindjeri woman and I’m very passionate about bringing Aboriginal Languages into schools. I started working at Hampstead Primary school in 2018 and now run Ngarrindjeri Language classes at our school. I encourage all of our students to embrace their cultures and to treasure the knowledge they’ve gained outside of school through learning from family members, traditional practices and story telling. I hope we can build a strong network of Aboriginal people in our community to support our young people’s education while keeping our culture at the centre of all we do.

My name is Carly Price and I am the Aboriginal Education Teacher here at Hampstead Primary School. I have a Bachelor of Education Degree in the Early Years and have been privileged to be at this school for over ten years, seeing many of our Aboriginal students grow and develop from my reception class up to graduating in Year 7. I pride myself on building connections with students and families and my teaching role is to support the literacy learning of all Aboriginal students in the mainstream classes. I really look forward to working closely with you to set focused goals for all students to achieve success.
