Stephanie Alexander Kitchen Garden Program

In our kitchen, the students create all the meals from scratch whilst the school provides the supplies (ingredients, cleaning supplies, cutlery and recipes), the fresh produce is harvested from our garden (carrots, apples, potatoes, etc) The foods that we don't grow, for example chick peas, corn and milk, we purchase from our local Coles. One thing worth noting is that our kitchen is meat free and every meal we make is vegetarian (we still use milk, cheese and eggs).
Since 2009 we have helped our garden flourish and since then it has provided us with many lovely meals and harvests. The students tend to the plants, making sure the soil is weed free and look after our chickens. Classes from years 3 to year 7 are involved in weekly sessions where they work in cooperative groups to complete different tasks in our humble garden.
